Placer County - Caltrans is advising motorists of a broadband installation project set to begin on Monday, July 8 along State Route 28 (SR-28) along the north shore of Lake Tahoe.
This project is a part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed broadband into rural communities. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.
Survey work will be occurring along the eastbound shoulder of SR-28 at the following locations:
Between Jackpine Street and Laurel Drive:
In Tahoe City between Tahoe State Park entrance and State Route 89 intersection:
Between the State Route 267 junction in Kings Beach and Estates Drive:
In addition, Southwest Gas and its contractor, Q&D Construction, continue work on a gas-line replacement project on SR-28 between Tahoe City and Kings Beach. One-way traffic control is scheduled at the following three locations:
Between Lardin Way and Chinquapin Drive:
Between Onyx Street and Center Street in Carnelian Bay:
Between the State Route 267 junction in Kings Beach and Agate Road:
There will be no work scheduled between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. each weekday.
Motorists could encounter total delays of up to one hour between Tahoe City and Kings Beach on SR-28 due to the various construction activities. Please allow for extra time to reach your destination. All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends and holidays. Schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment or material availability, or other unexpected events.
