ALPINE COUNTY - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is preparing to begin highway maintenancework to repair potholes, shoulders, and pavement surfaces along Ebbetts Pass/State Route 4 (SR-4) in Alpine County.
The work is imperative to ensure the safety of the traveling public and cyclists in advance of the annual Death Ride cycling event taking place on Saturday, July 13, 2024. Intermittent road closures and traffic control will be in place just west of the Silver Creek Campground to Jackass Creek. Maintenance work is scheduled to begin Monday, July 8, through Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. This work is scheduled to take place as listed above, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials and construction related issues.
