Washington, D.C. (October 25, 2024) - Tickets are available now for the inaugural Capital Hockey Classic, presented by Google for Government, taking place at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, December 12. The event is set to feature matchups between Army and Navy's club hockey teams starting at 5 PM, followed by Army and Penn State's Division I programs facing off at 8 PM.

The Capital Hockey Classic is one of several programming highlights around the Washington Capitals 50th Anniversary season. Marking the return of college hockey to Capital One Arena, this celebration of hockey talent aligns with the club's special initiatives to grow the game and engage the Capitals fanbase throughout the franchise's historic season.

"We are thrilled to welcome the first-ever Capital Hockey Classic to the District during a marquee season for our organization, players, and fans," said Capitals Senior Vice President of Marketing Amanda Tischler. "This unique event ties into our season-long 50th celebration as we aim to create fan engagement opportunities and use our platform to advance the game in our community."

Ticket prices start at $20 and are now available for purchase here. Fans should note that this event is ticketed as single-entry with both games included in the admission price.

Fans can watch the second game of the doubleheader between Army and Penn State on MNMT2, Monumental Sports Network's (MNMT) newly rebranded overflow channel, or stream via the Monumental+ app. Broadcasting this highly-anticipated series aligns with MNMT's robust lineup of college sports programming. MNMT has also partnered with DMV-area schools including the University of Richmond and Towson University, as well as HBCU GO, to air a total of 20 college football games during the 2024 season, the most in network history.

The NCAA and Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) also recently announced that the 2027 Division I Men's Ice Hockey Championship (commonly known as the "Frozen Four") and 2028 Division I Women's Basketball Regional (commonly known as the "Sweet 16" and "Elite 8") will be held at Capital One Arena, in addition to hosting the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball East Regional in 2026. Capital One Arena previously hosted the 2009 NCAA Frozen Four, won by Boston University.

The 2027 Frozen Four's setting in Washington, D.C., also reflects upon the Capitals commitment to growing the game of hockey at all participation levels. The Capitals offer a robust lineup of on- and off-ice youth hockey programming, including a Future Caps Learn to Play program, ALL CAPS ALL HER, a Hockey School program, Try Ball Hockey for Free, and more. In addition, the Capitals also annually host a College Hockey Combine & Fair as a free opportunity for high school aged hockey players throughout the Washington, D.C., region to showcase their on-ice and off-ice talents, as well as learn about the different avenues and opportunities in college hockey. To date the organization has also refurbished or built 14 ball hockey rinks across Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia. USA Hockey registration of adult and youth players across Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland currently totals 21,949 individuals, of which 12,749 are youth players - a testament to the Capitals impact on growing the game.

Capital One Arena serves as the home venue for the Capitals. Alongside their ownership organization, MSE, the Capitals are committed to growing the game and increasing access to hockey, including through youth clinics and camps, community programming and talent development with their AHL affiliate team and 13-time Calder Cup Champions, the Hershey Bears.

The classic precedes a stacked collegiate rivalry weekend in the D.C. region, taking place days before the annual Army-Navy Game presented by USAA at Northwest Stadium on December 14.
