The European Commission proposed a 90% reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2040 as an integral part of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. It was concluded that in order to reach this target, transport emissions need to decline by 80% by 2040. This commitment is welcomed by the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER).
