Snowplow Santa to Visit Lincoln December 7

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) today announced that Snowplow Santa will deliver holiday cheer from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Saturday, December 7. This is the fifth year LTU has organized the free event in partnership with Lincoln City Libraries.

Instead of a sleigh, Santa Claus will ride in an LTU snowplow, wave at residents along the route and make brief stops at three libraries. Families will be able to meet Snowplow Santa and take pictures with him using their own cameras and camera phones.

"Bringing holiday joy to our community is something we look forward to every year. This event offers families a chance to celebrate together and experience the magic of the season in a unique way - right alongside our hardworking snowplow operators who keep our streets safe all winter long," said Liz Elliott, LTU Director.

These are outdoor events with Snowplow Santa visiting a designated area of each library branch parking lot. Following Snowplow Santa's visits, each library will offer crafts and holiday refreshments indoors.

The schedule is as follows:

  • 10 to 10:45 a.m. - Anderson Branch Library, 3635 Touzalin Ave.
  • 11:15 a.m. to noon - Gere Branch Library, 2400 South 56th St.
  • 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. - Walt Branch Library, 6701 South 14th St.

"Lincoln City Libraries is always thrilled to partner with LTU and Snowplow Santa to bring joy and tidings to residents throughout our community. Our libraries love hosting this event and providing Lincoln's residents with a merry, winter activity that is fun for all ages." said Ali Bousquet, Youth Services Coordinator, Lincoln City Libraries.

Residents may track Snowplow Santa's location on December 7 only by using the City Snowplow Tracker at lincoln.ne.gov/snow. In case of inclement weather, the Snowplow Santa event may be rescheduled to Saturday, December 14, or canceled. For more information on this event, visit lincoln.ne.gov/SnowplowSanta.
