…They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Angus Provost Linda Clark -
"On Remembrance Sunday (10 November) there will be services and parades across Angus, as well as the laying of wreaths, in honour of all those who gave their lives in defence of our freedoms.
"I would encourage you all, if you are able, to join with your community at one of these events and pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
"If you can't make it along then, please, take a moment to quietly reflect, whether alone or with friends and family, to honour the fallen.
"The day after is Armistice Day (Monday 11 November) and it provides another opportunity for us to pay our respects.
"At 11am, whether you are at home or at your work, and if you can do so, stop what you are doing for two minutes and pay silent tribute to the selflessness and bravery of our Armed Services.
"We will remember them.
"Give thanks too, to those service men and women who continue to serve our country both at home and throughout the world. As they protect and support us, we will support them. Always.
"These are very uncertain times we live in, where the appalling horrors of conflict are made clear to us, almost every day as we watch our television, listen to radio, or browse our news feeds.
"In remembering past conflicts, we must also pray for peace - an armistice for wars that are taking place now. We must see an end to the dreadful loss of innocent lives and search out long-term resolutions for peace through diplomacy."
