Fargo Human Rights Commission Seeks Nominations for Martin Luther King Jr. Day Human Rights Awards

Nominations can be submitted until January 1, 2025

12/16/2024

Nominations are now being accepted for the Human Rights Commission's Martin Luther King Jr. Day Human Rights Awards. Community members are encouraged to submit nominations by January 1, 2025, for individuals and organizations in Fargo that embody Dr. King's legacy by actively working to promote respect, equity and acceptance of diversity as well as eliminating discrimination in all its forms.

Each year Human Rights Commission members, along with Mayor Dr. Tim Mahoney and City Commissioner John Strand, formally recognize the contributions of Fargo community members with three special awards to an individual adult, young person and a business/nonprofit organization. The Human Rights Commission is particularly interested in individuals and groups whose efforts have had a measurable impact on fostering an inclusive and equitable environment. Whether through community programs, advocacy, education or innovative initiatives, these honorees should reflect a commitment to building a more just and unified Fargo. Awards will highlight contributions such as championing underrepresented voices, organizing programs that celebrate diversity or leading efforts to address systemic inequalities.

To submit a nomination, visit FargoND.gov/MLK to complete an electronic nomination form no later than January 1, 2025. Please call 701.241.1310 with any questions.

The Human Rights Commission meets on the third Thursday of every month at 12 p.m. in City Commission Chambers in City Hall, 225 4th St. N. More information can be found at FargoND.gov/HumanRights.
