Hands-on portable fire extinguisher (PFE) training will take place the afternoon of Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Participants will experience using a type A, B, C fire extinguisher, the most common type of fire extinguisher on campus, to put out a fire. Students, faculty and staff working in research labs where flammable liquids are handled are encouraged to participate.
When: Tuesday, November 19, 2024, anytime between 1 and 4pm
Duration: Approximately 20 minutes
Where: Parking lot between the Physical Plant (i.e., Facilities building located at 201 East Street) and the tennis courts. See map.
Who: Students, faculty and staff working in research labs where flammable liquids are handled are encouraged to participate.
Researchers working in labs where reactive materials are handled should consider this training mandatory.
Facilities staff members performing hot work (e.g., soldering, welding, cutting, brazing, etc.) should also consider this training to be mandatory.
