Lebanon (01.10.24)

France expresses its concern over reports of ground incursions carried out by the Israeli army in southern Lebanon. As the Minister reiterated during his visit to Beirut on 30 September, France is opposed to any Israeli ground operation in Lebanon, and calls for an end to indiscriminate attacks on civilians. It calls on Hezbollah and Iran to refrain from any action likely to lead to additional destabilization and a regional conflagration.

France condemns the Israeli airstrikes that have caused an unacceptable number of civilian deaths, including dozens of women and children, as well as the Hezbollah attacks against Israeli territory.

Civilians, be they Lebanese or Israeli, must not be targeted under any circumstances.

France calls on the parties to immediately take up the proposals jointly drawn up with the United States and our other partners with a view to achieving a ceasefire paving the way to a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
