TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 18, 2024 - Synovus has appointed John Smarge to its Gulf Coast advisory board. A Naples, Florida, resident, Smarge is the retired president of Ray the Mover, a North American Van Lines company.

Smarge retired after 42 years as president of Ray the Mover, a full-service moving and storage company serving Collier, Lee and Charlotte counties. He is a founding board member and fund development chair for Haiti National Clean Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Initiative (HANWASH), a program that brings clean water and satisfactory sanitation to Haiti.
Smarge has been active for more than 40 years with The Rotary Club of Naples and Rotary International. He is the president-elect of the Forum Club of Southwest Florida, and he has served on the boards of several Naples-area organizations.
