ICG/PTWS Working Groups, Task Teams and Steering Committee Meetings (16-20 September 2024, Honolulu, USA)

ICG/PTWS Working Groups, Task Teams and Steering Committee Meetings took place during 16-20 September 2024 in Honolulu, USA. 22 in-person and 15+ online participants attended the meetings as a member or observer. During the first two days, meetings of Working Group 1 on Understanding Tsunami Risk, Working Group 2 on Tsunami Detection, Warning and Dissemination, Working Group 3 Disaster Risk Management and Preparedness, Task Team on Tsunami Ready, Task Team on Tsunami Generated by Volcanoes, Task Team on Tsunami Service Providers, Task Team on Integrated PTWS Sensor Networks for Tsunami Detection and Characterisation and Task Team on Tsunami Forecasting from Ocean Observations were organized in parallel, to facilitate in-depth technical discussions on the issues reflected in their Terms of References.

The Steering Committee Meeting organized on 18-20 September 2024 provided a timely opportunity to review of Action Items from the ICG/PTWS-XXX (11-15 September 2023, Nuku'alofa, Tonga), such as the implementation of the Tsunami Ready Recognition Programme in the Pacific, provision for Tsunami Services for the Maritime Community, Minimum National Tsunami Warning Center Competency Framework and PaCWave24) with a view towards ICG/PTWS-XXXI (7-11 April 2025, Beijing, China).
