Help shape the future of suburban transit: Take the Pace ReVision survey or attend an open house

This is a guest blog from Pace on a new initiative that aims to adapt transit service to meet the changing needs of riders-a key action item in the RTA's regional transit strategic plan Transit is the Answer. The ReVision plan was one of various projects explored at the RTA's Suburban Transit Summit in October.

As travel patterns continue to evolve post-pandemic, Pace is rethinking its network to meet the changing needs of suburban communities. The Pace ReVision project is a transformative initiative designed to create a more accessible, equitable, and productive transit system across our region. By reimagining service routes, schedules, and On Demand options, this study could lead to significant service updates, starting as early as 2026.

Why Your Input Matters

ReVision isn't just a study-it's a community-driven transformation that invites riders and residents to share their vision for the future of suburban transit. Pace has launched an online survey and will hold a series of open houses to hear directly from the people who rely on these services every day. Whether you're a frequent rider, a local business owner, or simply interested in shaping the future of transportation in your community, your feedback will guide the planning and priorities of Pace's future services.

Take the ReVision Survey

The ReVision survey is available online for anyone who wants to provide input. Take a few minutes to share your feedback and help shape the future of transit in your area.

What to Expect at a ReVision Open House

Pace's ReVision open houses provide an interactive opportunity for residents to review preliminary concepts, share feedback, and discuss potential improvements to routes and service options. Attendees will:

  • Explore network concepts and future service options.
  • Offer input on priorities, such as service frequency, regional access, and flexible On Demand services.
  • Discuss what matters most to them regarding routes, timing, and connections.

Upcoming Open House Schedule:

  • November 20 - 5:30-6:30 p.m. - Virtual (register here)
  • December 2 - 6-7:30 p.m. - Howard Mohr Community Center (7640 Jackson Blvd, Forest Park, IL 60131), accessible via Pace Bus Route #318, CTA's Forest Park Blue Line stop, or Metra UP-West's River Forest stop.
  • December 11 - 5:30-7 p.m. - Homewood Village Hall (2020 Chestnut Rd, Homewood, IL 60430), accessible via Pace Bus Route #356 or Metra Electric's Homewood stop.

Key Features of the ReVision Concepts:

  • Increased Service Frequency: Enhanced weekday and weekend services on key routes for greater convenience and accessibility.
  • Flexible Service Options: Expanded On Demand services to meet changing travel needs and make public transit more convenient.
  • Improved Regional Access: Better connections to major hubs, employment centers, and destinations throughout the region.
