SAE International Brings Regulators and Industry Together for Critical Conversations Needed to Shape the Future of Mobility

Safety, Environment and Energy Conservation are Key Topics at SAE's Government/Industry Meeting, Jan. 28-30, 2025, in Washington, D.C.

WARRENDALE, Pa. (Nov. 19, 2024) - For more than 40 years, the annual SAE International® Government/Industry Meeting (GIM) has united industry executives with state and federal government agencies to discuss the latest mobility technology, regulatory policies, and where the industry is moving. The 2025 event happens Jan. 28-30, 2025, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. All registered participants receive early access to the Washington, D.C., Auto Show.

2025 GIM keynote speakers include:

  • John Bozzella, President & CEO, Alliance for Automotive Innovation

  • Jennifer Homendy, Chair, National Transportation Safety Board

  • Michael E. Murphy, Republican Party-Political Media Consultant

  • Jennifer Thomas, Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs, American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

The event's technical program is developed by engineering professionals from around the world, offering mobility professionals and regulators exclusive insight on policy and technology that is not available anywhere else, including:

  • Consumer Acceptance and Behavior with Today's Vehicle and Technology Offerings

  • Election Impacts - What Keeps the Mobility Industry up at Night

  • Safety

    • Driver Intervention Technologies

    • Advancements in Child Injury Prevention

    • Biomechanics of Motor Vehicle Crash Induced Injuries

  • Environmental & Energy Conservation

    • Building U.S. EV and Battery Production

    • Chemical Regulations

    • Expanding the U.S EV Charging Network

    • Battery Closed Loop Recycling

The event's neutral forum ensures all sides have a chance to weigh in to provide a full picture of the current and future landscape of the industry.

"The two-way conversations that take place at this meeting are key. Effective policies come about when the government has a full view of all stakeholder perspectives," stated Kevin Bolon, Ph.D., Engineer, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. "This forum provides an opportunity for industry to share insights on the state of technologies, markets, and potential policy impacts. And government representatives have an opportunity to give highlights of key programs and share latest thinking on issues under development."

"This year's meeting will feature discussions of the Safe System approach, Level 2 automation, human factors hot topics, data, crash avoidance technology, autonomous vehicles, advances in child safety, virtual testing, biomechanics, and advanced dummies," stated Jessica S. Jermakian, senior vice president, vehicle research, Insurance Institute for Highway Safety
Highway Loss Data Institute. "These are all important topics that will benefit from the exchange of ideas that happens at the Government/Industry Meeting."

NOTE: Federal and State employees are eligible for FREE registration with appropriate identification. In addition, all registered participants receive early access to the Washington, D.C. Auto Show.
