The Pedestrian Safety Review Board (PSRB) held a remembrance walk at Macon Mall on Monday to remember the pedestrians who died in Macon-Bibb County. Participants were able to get free lighted armbands and safety information from local organizations.

"The PSRB engaged with as many as 50 people during the educational outreach activity, and Pedestrian Safety Awareness Walk," said PSRB Board Chair Greg Brown. "Those who participated in the walk, walked in memory of pedestrians who have lost their lives along our roadways "

This event was part of a series of activities in October recognizing National Pedestrian Safety Month. Events include outreach in four different areas of the County which pedestrians frequent, an awareness walk, and a field trip to see the East Macon Loop Project on Gray Highway. You can see the flyer below for dates, times, and locations.

"The Pedestrian Safety Review Board is dedicated to working collaboratively with stakeholders to improve pedestrian infrastructure throughout the entire community," adds Brown. "Educating the community on safety tips goes a long way, that will ultimately create a safer and comfortable environment for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists."

Also,as part of National Pedestrian Safety Month, several Public Service Announcements by local leaders have been produced to encourage people to drive, walk, and cycle safer. You can watch those here.
