Stan Lee Social Media Guru to Speak at UW Monday

Kim Luperi, a film historian for Turner Classic Movies and former social media expert for Stan Lee, will speak at University of Wyoming's American Heritage Center (AHC) Monday, Oct. 21.

Luperi will discuss "Preserving Stan Lee's Pop Culture Legacy" at 4:10 p.m. in the AHC's Stockgrowers Room. Her talk is open to the public and free, as is parking at the AHC.

Luperi will take an unconventional look at Lee's life and accomplishments. Drawing upon eight years of working with him -- as well as Lee's biography, history and his collection housed at the AHC -- the talk will illuminate the life and legacy of "Stan the Man." It will showcase his trademark humor while describing his creativity and concern for his fans.

AHC Director Paul Flesher says he is excited about Luperi's visit.

"Kim Luperi's talk will combine her firsthand experience of working for Stan with her biographical research into Stan's life at the American Heritage Center and its Stan Lee papers," Flesher says. "She brings a unique perspective on Lee and his creations at Marvel and elsewhere to share with the UW campus and Laramie."

UW's AHC holds the only archival collection of materials created by Lee. For 30 years, Lee donated documents, photographs and other materials. The collection consists of more than 125 cubic feet of materials. The center currently is hosting "Stan Lee: Beyond the Book," an exhibition based on the AHC's collection that runs through Nov. 1.

"Come early, before the lecture, and view the Stan Lee exhibit," Flesher says.
