Palatka commission meeting canceled due to lack of quorum

City of Palatka commission meeting canceled due to lack of quorum

The regularly scheduled City of Palatka commission meeting on Thursday, December 12, was canceled due to a lack of quorum. Two commissioners could not attend due to illness, and a third commissioner attended a long-scheduled city-related conference.

A quorum is the minimum number of members required for a governmental body to conduct official business. The Palatka City Commission requires at least three members to be physically present. With only two commissioners in physical attendance for the December 12 meeting, the quorum requirement could not be met, resulting in the meeting's cancellation.

To ensure timely handling of the important items initially set for discussion, the City is considering scheduling a special commission meeting on or before Dec. 20. Once details are confirmed, the City Clerk will publish notice.

Looking ahead, the City of Palatka's next regularly scheduled commission meeting will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall. Additionally, a special meeting will occur on Monday, January 6, 2025, during which Commissioner-elect Annie Davis will be sworn into office.

The City appreciates the understanding of its residents and stakeholders and remains committed to transparency and effective governance.
