Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region acquires York/Adams affiliate

Harrisburg, PA (October 25, 2024) - Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region (BBBSCR) is thrilled to announce a significant expansion of its service area, broadening its reach from 5 to 7 counties through the acquisition of the BBBS York & Adams Counties affiliate. To align with their new service region, BBBSCR is changing its name to Big Brothers Big Sisters of South-Central PA.

Amy Rote, President & CEO states, "We are now serving 7 out of 8 counties in the South-Central PA region. Our new name aims to enhance our visibility and strengthen our connection with the community."

The nonprofit's one-to-one mentoring programs are grounded in evidence-based practices that help young people develop the skills and confidence needed to navigate life's challenges. By expanding into these new counties, Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of South-Central PA is poised to make an even greater impact on the lives of youth, helping them reach their full potential.

The expansion is part of the organization's commitment to ensure young people have access to the guidance, encouragement and positive role models that are vital for their development and success.

"We were asked by our neighboring York & Adams affiliate to assist with the growth of services and to introduce innovative programs that respond to the challenges and needs of our youth in these communities," says Rote.
