Hollywood Police Department Headquarters Project: Landscaping Update

The Construction Manager at Risk, Moss, has begun working within the right of way along South Park Road. As part of approval process for this work, Broward County Highway Construction and Engineering Division has required certain conditions, including southbound left turn lanes that will allow access to the new headquarters. In order to accommodate these turn lanes, 10 trees on South Park Road need to be removed. While most of these trees are small, there are a few larger live oaks and sea grapes that will be removed. There are also four trees along the east side of South Park Road that need to be removed to accommodate the new driveway and access road connections.

The City has worked very closely with the team to minimize the number of trees to be removed, and as a result of this work, eleven large mature trees will remain in place. All the mature trees along South Park Road to the north and south of the project limits will also remain. Thirteen other existing trees will remain along Entrada Drive, also within the project limits. The project landscaping plan and City's Tree Mitigation Fund calls for 51 new trees to be planted on the site.
