On the evening of November 14th, a 78-year-old man died after sustaining serious injuries during a traffic collision on Rose Street.
On November 14th at 6:17 pm, officers responded to the intersection of Rose Street and Josephine Street on a report of collision involving a car and a pedestrian. At the time of the collision, it appears that the pedestrian was crossing Rose Street (walking southbound on the eastside of Josephine Street), when he was struck by eastbound vehicle on Rose Street.
As a result of the collision, the pedestrian (a 78-year-old Berkeley man) was transported to Highland Hospital-where he later died.
Because of the severity of the collision, the Department's Fatal Accident Investigation Team is handling the investigation. The driver (a 79-year-old Berkeley woman) remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
This is the fourth traffic fatality of 2024 in Berkeley.
