This November, Explore Volusia has something for everyone. Below are all the events, and registration is mandatory for each. Eyes on Seagrass Blitz Paddle:
When: 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 5
Where: Riverbreeze Park, 250 H.H. Burch Road, Oak Hill
Requirements: Ages 10 and up are welcome; children must be accompanied by an adult. Paddlers must bring their watercraft, a personal flotation device such as a life jacket, and a whistle. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes that can get wet.


Paddle in Mosquito Lagoon and participate in a citizen science opportunity. In collaboration with UF/IFAS Extension and Florida Sea Grant, Explore Volusia will be collecting data on the presence or absence of sea grass in the lagoon.

Carnivorous Plant Hike:
When: 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, November 8
Where: Longleaf Pine Preserve, 4551 Pioneer Trail, New Smyrna Beach
Requirements: Ages 10 and up are welcome; children must be accompanied by an adult. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes.


Florida is home to more carnivorous plants (31) than any other state. Participate in a 2.5-mile hike and discover some of the species found in Volusia County.

Lyonia Preserve Eco-buggy:
When: 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, November 15
Where: Lyonia Environmental Center, 2150 Eustace Ave., Deltona
Requirements: All ages are welcome; children must be accompanied by an adult. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes.


Hop on the eco-buggy and learn about the diverse and beautiful Florida scrub habitat at Lyonia Preserve. Along the way, look for some of the amazing animals that call this habitat home, including Florida scrub jays and gopher tortoises.
