Rep. Carl Gilliard Announces African Diaspora Day Event in Savannah

ATLANTA - State Representative Carl Gilliard (D-Savannah), chair of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus, today announces the upcoming African Diaspora Day on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 9 a.m. at the Georgia Ports Authority in Savannah, Georgia.

The event seeks to foster economic ties between the state of Georgia and African nations, and it will offer networking, collaboration and growth opportunities.

State legislators and dignitaries will be in attendance, including: State Representatives Solomon Adesanya (D-Marietta); Segun Adeyina (D-Grayson); El-Mahdi Holly (D-Stockbridge); State Senator Donzella James (D-Atlanta); CEO of the International Trade Exchange for Nigeria Bishop Adejube; Secretary of the BA Foundation of Nigeria, Inc. Bamidele Ajewole; Officio EOY of Nigeria/ Greater Atlanta Adeniyi Oshiboyejo; U.S. Georgia Ambassador to the Diaspora for Ghana Isaac Essel; CEO Prestige Ventures Group LLC Claude Alain Mabbyalas; Custom Attaché, Embassy of Gabon, Washington DC Rodrigue Oyouomi; Consul General of Nigeria Ambassador Auwalu Jega Namadina; Honorary Consul General of Ghana Ms. Yvonne Horsley; President, Ghana Council of Georgia Mr. Richard Druyeh; President of ANOG Mr. Kayode Adekunle; President, Nigerians in the Diaspora Mr. Collins Ikegwuonu; Vice President, Nigerians in the Diaspora Dr. Tomi Ademokun and South Fulton, GA Mayor Kaylie Kamau.

The event will begin at the Georgia Ports Authority, followed by excursions to Gulfstream and the World Trade Center Savannah.
