NPL Canada Celebrates 30th Anniversary

This year marks NPL Canada's 30^th anniversary.

Since its founding in 1994 as Link-Line, our NPL Canada team has been providing essential infrastructure solutions for utility, commercial, and industrial customers primarily in the Ontario area. 2024 marks 30 years of uncompromising service, rooted in safety, quality, and a commitment to community.

Founded with an initial focus on pipeline and utility services, the team formalized its first alliance-based contract in 1999 with Union Gas, followed by its inaugural alliance agreement with Enbridge Gas in 2003. In the decade that followed, the team expanded their capabilities and in 2008 signed their first telecommunications contract with Bell, a customer relationship that continues today. In 2009 NPL Canada acquired WSN Nicholls. In the 2010s, the team grew, expanded, and renewed key customer relationships with municipalities, petroleum transporters, and utilities. In 2014, NPL joined the Centuri family of companies.

Today, NPL Canada offers comprehensive utility infrastructure solutions, including gas and electric distribution, infrastructure maintenance and integrity, mainline-pipeline, and large-scale facilities fabrication and construction. The team has grown from 100 employees in the 1990s to averaging nearly 1,000 personnel today during peak season. NPL Canada continues to serve Enbridge Gas, Inc. now the largest energy infrastructure company in North America following a corporate merger in 2017. Enbridge is also one of Centuri's top 20 customers.

The NPL Canada team continues to innovate, in the field, in the workplace, and in the community. This includes new business lines such as planning and design, sewer safety utility locating, and traffic control. Their work to bring cost-effective, sustainable energy solutions is essential to enhancing quality of life and includes partnerships with Indigenous communities to create jobs and serve as stewards of their lands. NPL Canada's community involvement is a unique differentiator and includes efforts like raising more than $1 million in the fight against cancer, alongside their key customer. Their fabrication shop is ISO 9001: 2015 certified, a hard-to-achieve, independent certification that is just one example of how the team raises its own bar for performance.

As we celebrate 30 years of NPL Canada, the team is excited about what the future holds and their continued contributions to the Centuri organization. Their role as a full-service energy contractor positions them well for growth, building a proven formula for success.
