Opening ceremony of the exhibition of Sergei Parajanov in the "Zachęta" National Gallery of Art

11 October, 2024
On October 11, the official opening ceremony of the exhibition of Sergei Parajanov took place in the "Zachęta" National Gallery of Art in Warsaw.
In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador Alexander Arzoumanian noted that the exhibition honors the extraordinary legacy of Sergei Parajanov, a visionary - whose works transcend cultural and artistic boundaries and resonate deeply with our shared human experience. "It will not only honor Parajanov's memory but also inspire new generations to appreciate and explore the rich tapestry of Armeian art and culture. The exhibition is a testament to the power of art to connect people, to provoke thought, and to inspire dialogue, and reminds of the universal themes that resonate across cultures: love, loss, and the quest for freedom."
The exhibition presents collages and drawings brought from the museum of Sergei Parajanov in Yerevan, excerpts from films, including excerpts left out of the film "The Color of Pomegranate". The accompanying program of the exhibition presents the works of contemporary Armenian, Ukrainian, and Georgian artists inspired by S. Parajanov.
The exhibition is held under the honorary patronage of the Embassy of Armenia in Poland and will run until January 12, 2025.
