FIJIAN DIASPORA WELCOMES PRESIDENT KATONIVERE...

The President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Wiliame Katonivere and his delegation were accorded a traditional welcoming ceremony by the Fijian Diaspora in New York ahead of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) later in the week.

In his address, President Katonivere expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Fijian community for the warm reception extended to the delegation. He acknowledged their unwavering support for their families back home, highlighting the crucial role their financial contributions play in Fiji's economic growth.

The President also thanked Fiji's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Mr. Filipo Tarakinikini, for his strong leadership and for effectively advancing Fiji's interests on the international stage.

President Katonivere noted that the presence of the diaspora at the welcoming ceremony symbolises the unity and togetherness of Fijian families living abroad.

"Despite being far from home, they continue to carry Fiji in their hearts, reinforcing the bond between overseas Fijians and their homeland."

Also in attendance was Assistant Minister for Finance Hon. Esrom Immanuel and Fiji's Ambassador to the United States of America Ratu Ilisoni Vudireketi.

President Katonivere's participation in UNGA 79 highlights Fiji's steadfast dedication to global collaboration, sustainable development, and the advancement of peace, prosperity, and progress for all.
