Homicide Investigation - 2300 Block of J Street

MEDIA ADVISORY/NEWS RELEASE

On Saturday, September 21, 2024, just before 1:00 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 2300 Block of J St for reports of a shooting. Responding officers located two male adults, each with at least one gunshot wound. Officers provided emergency medical aid to the victims until Sacramento Fire Personnel arrived on scene. The victims were transported to an area hospital. One of the victims unfortunately, succumbed to his injures.

Due to the circumstances, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They will be processing the scene, canvassing the area, and interviewing witnesses. The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation. No arrests have been made and there is no suspect information to provide at this time.

The Sacramento County Coroner's Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
