Maputo, Mozambique - As part of the European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM-MOZ), a representative from the Austrian Armed Forces (AT AF) Logistics School, Colonel Jürgen Marschnig, was recently in Maputo to carry out a site survey with the aim of assessing the conditions for setting up a Mobile Advisory Training Team (MATT).
This MATT will be set up to provide specialised training to the Defence Armed Forces of Mozambique (FADM), strengthening and boosting the operational capabilities of Mozambique's armed forces.
During his visit to Maputo, Colonel Marschnig was briefed by our Mission Force Commander (MFCdr), Brigadier General Luís Barroso, on EUMAM MOZ' roles, capabilities, mission, current activities and the main ongoing projects within the HQ.

On the following day, the AT AF representative, accompanied by the EUMAM-MOZ' Deputy MFCdr, Colonel Vesa Laitonen, and his delegation, met with FADM military at the Katembe Training Camp in order to identify needs and see the conditions for implementing the MATT.
This type of training is essential so that the FADM become self-sustaining and autonomous in the near future.

EUMAM-MOZ is composed by 80 military and civilian personnel from 10 European Union member states, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Romania, Spain and one non-European Union member state, Serbia.
