WASHINGTON - Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-02), Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Health Braintrust, released the following statement in reaction to President-elect Donald Trump's nomination of anti-vaccine activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services:
"Donald Trump's latest cabinet nominee is disastrous and proves that he does not have Americans' interest at heart. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is unqualified to lead our country's institution of health. Without any medical training or policymaking experience, RFK Jr. has repeatedly spread lies about vaccines, water safety, and basic science. As an anti-vaxxer, RFK Jr.'s disinformation would undo the trust we have been rebuilding between government services and the Black community to protect people from COVID-19, the flu, and other viruses. I urge the US Senate to unequivocally reject Trump's nomination."
