B-2 Officers Recognize Suspect Vehicle Linked to Separate Incident, Uncover Firearm and Arrest Operator

At 1:15 AM, on Sunday, November 16th, 2024, Officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested 28-year-old Garvis Arias-Lara, of Dorchester, for firearm related offenses during a subject stop at the intersection of Humboldt Ave. & Ruthven St., Roxbury.

Officers were traveling on Walnut Ave. towards Warren St. when they recognized a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction towards Martin Luther King Blvd., that was wanted for it's connection to an incident on Friday, November 15th, 2024 that involved a firearm. Officers were able to stop the vehicle at the intersection of Humboldt Ave and Ruthven St.

As Officers approached the vehicle, they recognized the operator, Garvis Arias-Lara, and a passenger inside who were also being investigated for the previously mentioned incident. Officers conducted an investigation of the occupants and their motor vehicle and located a firearm hidden inside a natural void of the vehicle's front driver's side door panel.

District B-2 Detectives responded and determined that the firearm recovered from the void within the door panel was a black ghost gun, with no round in the chamber, and eight (8) 9MM rounds in a Glock magazine.
Garvis Arias-Lara was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the charges of Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Firearm Without a License, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
