Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Academy Road Completion in Marlboro County

​Officials will gather near the gate house on Academy Road over the McNairs Millpond Dam in Marlboro County on Friday, October 11 at 3:30 p.m. to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of the work around the dam and the repairs to the road over the dam. The ceremony will be held on the roadway over the dam. A map is provided below.

The road over the dam was closed in 2018 following significant damage from Hurricane Florence. SCDOT worked very closely with the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services and the dam owner to make repair plans to repair the area around the dam and to rebuild and repair the roadway over the dam. The road will reopen to traffic this weekend.
