Inaugural Snowplow Naming Contest Results

The results are in! The City of Roanoke is excited to announce the winners of its first snowplow naming contest. After receiving more than 300 creative and entertaining submissions, City employees involved in snow removal voted and determined the top 12 names.

The winning names, listed in alphabetical order, are:

• Control Salt Delete
• Han Snolo
• Plow Chick A Plow Wow
• Plower Ranger
• Plowy McPlowface
• Sir Plows-A-Lot
• Snowtorious D.I.G.
• Sled Zepplin
• Sleetwood Mac
• The Big Leplowski

These submissions came from residents ranging in age from 27 to 64. The winners have been invited to the Public Works Service Center to place the magnetic name placards on their respective plows, pose for pictures, and receive some swag.

"Staff enjoyed seeing the creativity from the Roanoke residents we serve," said Fleet Manager Wayne Farley. "It's great to see the community engage with us in such a fun and unique way."
