In 2025, the European Union (EU) and Lao PDR mark 50 years of diplomatic relations. Over the past 50 years, the EU-Laos partnership has grown to address trade and investment, environmental protection, sustainable development, education, and cultural exchange, reflecting our strong and lasting ties.

The Delegation of the European Union to Lao PDR is organising a competition to design the official logo for the 50th anniversary. This logo will be prominently featured in all EU Delegation communications and across a series of special activities planned throughout the anniversary year.

The logo should be simple, classically stylish, and effectively symbolise the 50-year EU-Laos partnership, incorporating the EU and Lao PDR flags and the number 50.

This competition invites artists and designers, particularly young people, to capture the spirit of our shared journey and future collaboration.

Competition Details

Eligibility of Contestant

• Open to citizens of Lao PDR and EU Member States currently residing in Laos.
• One person is allowed to submit a maximum of three artworks.
• Only individual entry is accepted. Collaboration or group entry is not eligible.

Submission Guidelines

Submission Format:

• The logo should convey the essence of the EU-Lao PDR relationship, highlighting mutual understanding, cooperation and cultural exchange.
• The logo must be submitted in vector format (AI, EPS, or SVG) and high-resolution raster format (PNG, JPEG).
• Accompanying the logo, participants must provide a brief description (max 200 words) explaining their design concept.
• The artwork(s) must be original, unbound by any copyright, unpublished, and unproduced. By participating, the winner agrees to transfer ownership of the winning logo to the EU Delegation.
• Use of AI-produced art is strictly prohibited, not accepted and will result in immediate disqualification of the entry.

Judging Criteria

• Creativity:Beauty, stylishness and originality.
• Relevance:How well the logo represents the 50th anniversary of the EU-Lao PDR relationship.
• Visual Impact:Clarity, simplicity, and effectiveness in conveying the message.
• Versatility:Ability to be used across various mediums and platforms, with use in different sizes and formats.

Award

The winning designer will receive a prize up to EUR 500, a trophy, and a certificate of achievement from the EU Ambassador to Lao PDR. In addition, the design will be prominently used in all promotional materials related to the 50th anniversary celebrations.
