Triple recognition for Norton Rose Fulbright at the IFLR Middle East Awards 2024

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has been recognised for its work in the Middle East with two deal accolades and an individual accolade at the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) Middle East Awards 2024.

The annual IFLR Middle East Awards, in its 18th edition this year, seeks to acknowledge substantial financial and legal achievements throughout the region, and celebrate the major successes that continue to drive the sector forward.

Norton Rose Fulbright was awarded Project Finance Deal of the Year for its work advising a consortium of financiers on a US$2.2 billion investment into Project Wave, an independent water treatment (IWP) and transportation system project in Abu Dhabi. The IWP and transportation system utilises seawater as an additional source for enhanced oil recovery-based injection into the fields, enhancing energy efficiency by up to 30 percent. The deal was led by Angela Croker and Nicholas Kramer.

The firm also received Impact Deal of the Year for its work acting for a consortium in connection with the Al Wakrah and Al Wukair STP PPP project. The project, which comprises a US$720 million, 150,000 m3/day sewage treatment plant, is Qatar's first sewage treatment PPP project and is part of Qatar's 2030 vision to streamline water consumption. The deal was led by Paul Mansouri and Nicholas Kramer.

These accolades conclude a strong 12 months for Norton Rose Fulbright's banking and finance practice in the Middle East, after the firm was awarded Loan Deal of the Year, Restructuring Deal of the Year and Loan Team of the Year at last year's IFLR Middle East Awards.

Norton Rose Fulbright partner Adjou Ait Ben Idir was presented with the Diversity Champion award, in recognition of her work in actively promoting diversity and inclusion in the legal community across the region. IFLR noted Adjou's unwavering commitment as a lawyer particularly in collaborating with clients and serving as an inspiration and role model for diversity and women in law.

Adjou, based in the firm's Dubai office, is the diversity and inclusion lead for Norton Rose Fulbright across the Middle East and proactively champions a vast range of DE&I initiatives, including Ta'theer, the firm's gender and racial parity initiative in the Middle East.
