The School of Health Sciences nursing, patient navigation and public health students participated in a realistic emergency simulation exercise Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024.
This full-day event provided nursing students and emergency management trainees a realistic training experience that focuses on critical skills such as triage, prioritization, interprofessional communication, collaboration and clinical judgment.
Participants encountered simulated victims with realistic wounds - some with fake blood and others exhibited distress through yelling and various expressions of pain. This intense, interactive setting allowed students to apply theoretical knowledge in a dynamic environment, strengthening their practical response capabilities under controlled emergency conditions.
The exercise tested immediate responses and encouraged teamwork and improved crisis communication, essential for those in health and emergency response fields.
The Environmental Health and Safety team also collaborated on this effort.
