Undersecretary of State Anna Radwan-Röhrenschef takes part in International Conference on Women, Peace and Security

Deputy Minister Anna Radwan-Röhrenschef participated in the International Conference on Women, Peace and Security held in Manila to commemorate 25 years since the UN Security Council adopted resolution 1325 (2000) on women, peace and security.

Themed "Forging Collaboration and Convergence for Advancing Women, Peace and Security," the event marked the 25th anniversary of the UN Security Council's adoption of resolution 1325 (2000) on WPS, the first document to be fully dedicated to addressing the impact of armed conflict on women and the importance of their participation in peace processes, recovery efforts, and conflict prevention.

During her address, Minister Radwan-Röhrenschef underlined that women's participation in political life is of key importance for social cohesion and conflict prevention.this essential in times when conflicts and human rights violations are prevalent, she said and added that we need women's greater involvement in peace negotiations, mediation and peace building.

Poland is committed to supporting the Women, Peace and Security agenda and ensuring that women are included in public and political life, as well as in all levels of decision-making related to peace and security.

- Last year, Poland finished implementing its first National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security. Our focus was on the security sector and women's involvement in uniformed services, as well as in missions and peace operations.We are currently developing a second National Action Plan for Poland, which aims to address emerging security threats such as climate change, migration, pandemics, hybrid and cybersecurity threats, and extremism, as their impact on the situation of women is more than crucial - added Deputy Minister Anna Radwan-Röhrenschef.
