NEW YORK - New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez today announced the expansion of LockerNYC, New York City 's free, secure public delivery locker program. The program allows New Yorkers to conveniently receive and send packages using lockers on public sidewalks. Ahead of the holiday shopping season, LockerNYC now includes lockers across all five boroughs, including four additional locker locations on public sidewalks and indoors. For the first time, users will also have access to the full GoLocker network, the company whose lockers are being used in the pilot. At least 2.5 million packages are estimated to be delivered citywide every single day during the holiday shopping season. New Yorkers can sign up for free and manage orders on NYC DOT's website.
"With the arrival of the holiday shopping season, we expect more deliveries and congestion on our streets," said Deputy Mayor for Operations Meera Joshi. "Thankfully, through the LockerNYC program, we're consolidating deliveries to central locations and reducing truck stops in residential communities. We look forward to expanding this program and offering New Yorkers convenient, safe, and efficient ways to receive packages."
"As the holiday shopping season gets underway, we want to help New Yorkers keep the porch pirates at bay," said NYC DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez. "The LockerNYC program offers a safe and free way to send and receive packages during the holiday season. In addition to cutting down on package theft, centralized pick-up and drop-offs can also reduce the number of big delivery trucks on our streets."
Since the LockerNYC pilot program launched in April, New Yorkers have already made over 5,200 reservations for secure package pickup and drop-off. The LockerNYC pilot program is designed to cut down on package theft by offering secure delivery locations, and to consolidate package deliveries at centralized locations. Large delivery trucks are often high-polluting and can present safety risks for pedestrians, cyclists, and everyone who shares our busy streets. Centralized deliveries can reduce the high volume of delivery truck traffic.
The program is available to anyone who is interested and, unlike other delivery lockers, the LockerNYC program serves multiple delivery carriers, including UPS, DHL, and Pitney-Bowes. To ensure security, all locker locations are equipped with security cameras, LED lighting, and anti-theft mechanisms on locker compartments.
This holiday season, New Yorkers will be able to send or receive deliveries at 19 publicly available LockerNYC locations.

Brooklyn:Curb Management Action Plan
The City of New York 's LockerNYC pilot is part of NYC DOT 's efforts to reimagine freight delivery in New York City, restructure freight distribution, and create a sustainable last-mile delivery system for getting goods where they need to go.
Just last month, NYC DOT announced the agency has begun implementation of the 'Smart Curbs' program on the Upper West Side. The program, announced last year, will implement and evaluate new treatments and regulations to improve safety, reduce congestion, create vibrant and clean public spaces, support orderly local deliveries, and more.
Earlier this year NYC DOT also announced the first pilot locations and rules for the 'Microhubs' program that will establish safe, dedicated spaces for truck operators to transfer deliveries onto safer and more sustainable modes of transportation for the last leg of delivery, including e-cargo bikes, handcarts, and smaller electric sprinter vans.
Demand for curb space in New York City - from trash collection and bike lanes to truck loading and parking - is increasing and NYC DOT is responding to address these new demands. 'Smart Curbs ', 'Microhubs ' and the broader Curb Management Action Plan, released in September 2023, are efforts to address the dynamic community needs of today while better preparing the city's streets for the future. These efforts build on the core tenets of the 'New ' New York panel 's action plan, which identified public space as a key force for the city 's economic recovery.
"GoLocker is incredibly proud to be a partner in the LockerNYC initiative and grateful for the opportunity to support New York City's efforts in creating a safer, more efficient solution for package delivery and returns, especially in neighborhoods most impacted by package theft," said Kerry Caylor, CEO of GoLocker. "We've already processed more than 5,000 packages for New Yorkers in the past few months and look forward to building on that this holiday season."
"Today's expansion of the LockerNYC program across all five boroughs marks a significant advancement in securing and streamlining package delivery for every New Yorker. By integrating these lockers throughout the city, including a new addition in my district in Washington Heights, NYC DOT is not only protecting the property of New Yorkers but are also making strides in reducing the congestion and pollution caused by delivery vehicles," said State Senator Robert Jackson. "This initiative exemplifies how innovative solutions can enhance our quality of life and showcases a commitment to enhancing the daily experiences of our community members."
"I applaud the expansion of LockerNYC, which will enhance convenience and security for New Yorkers during the busy holiday shopping season," said State Senator Brian Kavanagh. "I am especially pleased that one of the lockers is located in my Lower Manhattan district. By providing accessible and secure delivery options across all five boroughs, LockerNYC not only combats package theft but also works towards reducing traffic congestion and pollution from delivery trucks. This program exemplifies our commitment to improving city life and ensuring a safer, more sustainable environment for all. I commend DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez and his staff for expanding this important initiative."
"New York City is making great progress in managing the freight and package delivery ecosystem to reduce congestion and package theft, making our streets and communities safer," said Councilmember Carlina Rivera. "I commend the Department of Transportation for the expansion of LockerNYC, and for the breadth of policies it has advanced to improve street and sidewalk management and quality of life."
