The Migration Law Clinic (MLC) has started a new project with a new cohort of Masters students! This research focuses on a critical legal issue regarding the interpretation of the EU Return Directive.

During the kick-off meeting, the students were introduced to the project and had the opportunity to meet the Clinic coordinator Younous Arbaoui and their supervisors Lisa-Marie Komp and Katja Swider. The team discussed the goals of the clinic and received preliminary information to begin their research.

Between now and January 2025, the students will conduct in-depth research and prepare an expert opinion to be submitted to the Court of Justice of the European Union. This collaboration will allow them to explore complex legal issues in depth, while developing their analytical and writing skills.

About the Clinic: The purpose of the Migration Law Clinic is to provide essential legal support on European migration law, including asylum, family reunification, labour migration, and much more. Selected students develop their legal skills by analysing, researching and writing professional legal advice for external clients, including lawyers and NGOs. This is done under the supervision of our centre, the Amsterdam Centre for Migration and Refugee Law.
