Meet Two of The U.S. Chemical Industry’s Most Thoughtful and Admired Leaders

Two ACC member company leaders-Erin Kane, president and CEO of AdvanSix, and Karen McKee, president of ExxonMobil Product Solutions-together represent the very best of the U.S. chemicals industry.

  • Both are smart, passionate change-makers who are committed to seeing our industry continue to become safer and more sustainable through Responsible Care®.
  • And both have served as the chair of ACC's Board of Directors-Karen in 2023, and Erin in 2024-which has allowed them to steer ACC's advocacy toward their shared vision for the future of our association and the U.S. chemicals industry.

A Focus on Community

Erin and Karen are also dedicated to supporting and engaging with the communities in which they operate-a major priority not only for ACC members, but for ACC staff as well.

ACC's "Community Solutions" media and local event partnership with Axios has brought us to Texas, Ohio, Louisiana, and Georgia to host open dialogues about the issues the community has told us they care about most: jobs, air quality, water quality, emissions, energy, sustainability, workforce development, and plastic waste.

  • And on two occasions, we've supplemented our live events with small dinner gatherings, which bring together thought leaders who are passionate about the end goal-like cleaner air, water, and energy-but may disagree on the means to achieving it.
  • In some cases, the dinners allowed community members and industry leaders who previously disagreed in the press or in other public forums to finally sit down and talk face-to-face in a constructive dialogue.

ACC will continue to invite constructive and meaningful dialogue with community members, with a focus on identifying collaborative solutions to shared challenges. And that's why ACC is so grateful to have leaders like Erin Kane and Karen McKee guiding us forward.

To help the community get to know Erin and Karen a little better, ACC invited our partners at Axios Studio to sit down for an interview with both leaders. The interviews helped capture their thought leadership on three priority issues for the community: safety, sustainability, and workforce development.
