BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University will hold the annual Gary R. Hess Lecture in Policy History at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, in Room 201 of the Bowen-Thompson Student Union, featuring Dr. Francis Gavin of Johns Hopkins University.

Presented by the BGSU Department of History, the free, public lecture titled "Reflection on Nuclear History" will highlight Gavin's scholarship on nuclear history and security studies while reflecting on the legacy of nuclear policy and its implications for current and potential conflicts.

As the Giovanni Agnelli Distinguished Professor and the inaugural director of the Henry A. Kissinger Center for Global Affairs at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, Gavin has published and lectured extensively on American foreign policy, nuclear proliferation, international monetary policy and other topics related to history and statecraft.

The Gary R. Hess Lecture in Policy History is a distinguished lecture series started by Hess's former students to honor his 45 years of teaching, scholarship and service at BGSU.
