BREMERTON, Wash. -

The West PAC Recruitment Road Show finally made its way to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility, Sept. 19-20.

Representatives from Ship Repair Facility Japan Regional Maintenance Center, AUKUS (the trilateral partnership between Australia, the United Kingdom and the U.S.) and Pearl Harbor Navy Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility Guam Detachment shared potential job opportunities overseas with interested PSNS & IMF employees at the Olympic Lodge Training Facility and the PSNS & IMF Shipyard Auditorium.

Approximately 533 potential applicants listened as representatives from all three organizations spoke about the positions their organizations are looking to fill in the near future and the importance each detachment plays in the partnerships the U.S. Navy maintains with partner its nations.

"I don't think people understand how many open positions are available overseas," said Jo Murphy, a representative from SRF-JRMC detachment in Yokosuka, Japan. "We need quality people and more diversity. It's a great opportunity for workers looking to expand their skills and experience something new."

All three representatives provided attendees with insight into open positions of need, the best ways to apply for them, relocation expenses and the benefits of living overseas. After their respective presentations, all three representatives answered questions and helped provide more details with interested candidates.

Workers who accept positions in the Pacific can still come back to PSNS & IMF if they wish. They will retain their return rights to their old position for five years.

Heidi Anderson, Command Career Counseling lead, Command Career Center, was at both sessions and reminded all in attendance that her office could help interested workers as they apply for positions. "Applying for these jobs can seem overwhelming, but we can help with that," she said. "We offer coaching, help putting together résumés and practice interviews."

Stacey Mouser, Executive Projects and Activity Awards program manager, Command and Military Support, was the liaison for the visit and stressed that positions are continually being updated and new openings are frequently posted on USAJOBS.gov.

"People were very appreciative for the opportunity to learn about the effort and the way ahead for ship maintenance facilities in those areas," she said. "I'd say most aren't ready to jump ship. For some, assignments like these seemed to be a great fit, or maybe in the future. In any case, it was a great event to support for our people, this command, and the Navy in general."
