The South Carolina Department of Transportation will implement a temporary, single-lane closure on I-26 eastbound over Lake Bowen in Spartanburg County. The outside travel lane near mile markers 7 and 8 will be closed to allow crews to make emergency repairs to the bridge surface.
The lane closure will begin tomorrow, December 16 mid-morning following the morning commute. The lane closure will remain in place continuously through the duration of the repair which is expected to last several days. Traffic is currently anticipated to be fully restored by the end of the week.
SCDOT anticipates some travel delays during peak travel times. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and use an alternate route. For real time travel information, visit 511sc.org . SCDOT asks that drivers slow down and pay attention when driving through the work zone.
