The project team continues to meet with project stakeholders, including local governments, transit agencies, chambers of commerce and economic development agencies, schools, civic and community groups, communities and neighborhoods, and others across the project corridor.

Ongoing coordination with these stakeholder groups helps generate awareness of the proposed express lanes project, offers an opportunity to share project updates, and helps build improved understanding between stakeholders and Georgia DOT.

We'd like to thank everyone who attended a PHOH event or submitted an official public comment on the proposed project during the PHOH comment period this summer. We heard from you through your comment submissions, at the live virtual meetings, and face-to-face at the public hearing events. We truly value these conversations and your feedback.
Georgia DOT continues diligently preparing responses for each of the 1,175 comments submitted during the public comment period, and these responses will be published in the official PHOH Comment Response Letter. The Comment Response Letter is anticipated in early 2025 and will be posted to the project website once completed. A notice will be sent through this subscriber email as soon as the document becomes available.

The project team is moving forward with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process and is developing the Final Environmental Impact Statement (Final EIS). The Final EIS considers feedback received during the public comment period and will include a finalized Mitigation Plan. The Final EIS will also incorporate any updates to the proposed project or environmental studies that would have occurred between its publication date and that of the Draft EIS (June 2024).
Once the Final EIS is complete, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will issue a Record of Decision (ROD) on whether to permit the proposed project. This decision is expected in Q4 2025. The project team will provide interim updates as information becomes available.
Thank you for your continued interest and participation in the planning of the proposed project! Our project team looks forward to continued public collaboration and hopes you will stay engaged with the proposed project's development and environmental process.
