On 3rd Anniversary, Sen. Ossoff Releases Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Report for Coastal Georgia

Since passage of the historic bipartisan infrastructure law 3 years ago today, Coastal Georgia communities have already received over $674.9 million in Federal infrastructure investments

Savannah, Ga. - Since passage of the bipartisan infrastructure law three years ago today, Savannah and communities across Coastal Georgia have already received over $674 million in Federal infrastructure funding to upgrade roads, expand high-speed internet, remove lead pipes from drinking water systems and more.

Today, on the 3rd anniversary of the bipartisan infrastructure law, U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff released a progress report for Coastal Georgia, highlighting the historic upgrades that have been delivered so far, with more to come.

"Three years ago, we brought Republicans and Democrats in Congress together to pass the historic bipartisan infrastructure law, the most significant investment in America's infrastructure since the Eisenhower administration. This law is upgrading our roads, highways, and bridges; removing lead pipes from our drinking water systems; expanding broadband internet access; upgrading our electric grid; rebuilding our airports and our seaports, and more. Our historic bipartisan infrastructure law will continue to deliver for Georgia for years to come," Sen. Ossoff said.

In the last 3 years, Sen. Ossoff and the bipartisan infrastructure law have so far delivered:

• Over $144 million to improve efficiency, capacity, and energy resilience at the Ports of Savannah and Brunswick.

• $53.2 million for the replacement of a 102-year-old bridge that crosses the Savannah River between Port Wentworth, Georgia, and South Carolina.

• Over $32 million for the replacement of 2 bridges along State Route 38 in Long, Ware, and Pierce Counties.

• Nearly $30 million for upgrades to Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport, including funding for a terminal expansion and additional capacity for passenger screening to accommodate the airport's growth.

• $37.6 million to address public transportation needs across coastal Georgia, including:

• $1.2 million to Chatham Area Transit to explore a new electric vehicle micro-transit project - which would provide a reliable, call-a-ride service for Savannah residents to move around their community.

• $5.4 million for Chatham Area Transit to purchase electric buses and charging equipment.

• Nearly $10 million for pedestrian safety upgrades at 15 intersections along 37th Street in Savannah, including updated signals and timing, dedicated turn lanes, sidewalks, crosswalks, and extended bike lanes.

• $147.8 million for the partial reconstruction of the Talmadge Memorial Bridge in Chatham County.

• $1.87 million for the Chatham Multimodal Community Improvement Project to eliminate 11 at-grade railroad crossings and improve access to an existing port facility in the cities of Savannah, Garden City, and Port Wentworth, Georgia.

• $1.5 million to help expedite the cleanup of hazardous materials across high-risk areas in Savannah, including the Pennsylvania Avenue Assemblage property, the CSX Railroad Properties site on Wheaton Street, and the Patel Property on W. Bay Street.
