Tim Tebow-the former Southeastern Conference (SEC) quarterback who led the University of Florida to two National Championships before heading to the NFL as quarterback, a 2007 Heisman Trophy winner, and philanthropist today-recently visited CoreCivic's Trousdale Turner Correctional Center in Hartsville, Tennessee, to share a message of hope and transformation with more than 300 incarcerated people. The event, organized by the Tennessee-based prison ministry Men of Valor, emphasized the power of faith and redemption for those impacted by incarceration.
The event took place in the facility's gymnasium, where residents were welcomed with worship songs performed by the resident-led band. Tebow followed with a powerful talk centered on the importance of faith and personal transformation.
"I've experienced a lot of success over the years, but what truly matters now is my relationship with Christ-and you all matter to me," Tebow shared, with his words resonating deeply with those in attendance.
Damon Hininger, CoreCivic's president and CEO, highlighted the impact that faith-based programming can have on those in CoreCivic's care, especially through organized events that allow faith-based speakers to share messages of hope.
"This visit from Tim showcases the incredible impact of faith-based initiatives on the lives of these men," said Hininger. "We are proud to partner with Men of Valor to support their work at Trousdale Turner and in CoreCivic facilities across the state [of Tennessee]."
Tebow's hour-long talk resulted in a captivated audience, with participants clapping, offering words of encouragement, and connecting with Tebow's heartfelt message. Afterward, residents eagerly lined up for handshakes and hugs from the all-star quarterback and speaker.
"In my four years as chaplain at Trousdale, Tim Tebow's presence was the crescendo in our work on behalf of the [residents] in our care," said Quinton Fletcher, chaplain at Trousdale. "The unity displayed between our CoreCivic leaders, administration, staff, volunteers, and [residents] was historic!"
