NEW: “Evans Continued To Pay Staffer After She Was Fired for Bigoted Posts”

New reporting reveals that Gabe Evans continued to pay his political director after coming under pressure to fire her for pushing conspiracy theories, racist and antisemitic rhetoric, and calls for political violence.

Evans - who has still refused to condemn his aide's rhetoric - admitted he only fired the staffer for political reasons after her posts were exposed.

It's no surprise Gabe Evans continues to cozy up to - and even hire - extremists. Evans himself has pushed conspiracy theories about the 2020 election, cozied up to far-right groups that aim to rewrite the Constitution, and compared same-sex marriage to "incest…and bestiality."

DCCC Spokesperson Mallory Payne:
"From loyally standing with conspiracy theorists to pushing a dangerous anti-abortion, anti-LGBTQ agenda, Gabe Evans continues to prove he's a far-right extremist who couldn't be more wrong for Colorado."

Colorado Times Recorder: Congressional Candidate Evans Continued To Pay Staffer After She Was Fired for Bigoted Posts

  • Colorado congressional candidate Gabe Evans continued paying a top staffer, Jessica Spindle, after firing her for antisemitic and other offensive Facebook posts.

  • Spindle received her full pay for the first half of September, even though she was fired on Wednesday, Sept. 11, according to Federal Election Commission records.

  • This means Evans, a Republican, apparently gave Spindle two days of work-free payment, despite her transgressions that led to her immediate dismissal.

  • The Evans campaign didn't respond to an email seeking to know why Spindle was given the funds.

  • "I can't have my campaign associated with that," Evans told KOA's Colorado's Morning News on Sept. 13, referring to Spindle's antisemitic posts. "…We had to part company there."
