Fall 2024 - Status Update for Clayton UC Construction

What's coming up in the construction process this spring?

We are moving into the final stages of construction for the project. The fire pit is nearing completion, as are the North and South patios. Landscape plantings are going in, and, and work on window weatherproofing will wrap up over the next few months. New building entrances have been installed, and Library Dr / Vresics Walk will be uncovered over the next month.

New developments

After calling for community feedback, we are pleased to share the names of the retail dining locations coming to the Clayton University Center. Follow dining on social media for information about food samplings at the flagpole throughout the fall semester and an opportunity to share your feedback!

Lower Eatery

• Asa's Place- All-day breakfast
• South Mountain Grill & Deli- Grill and deli menu with kosher selections
• Clutch and Go- Amazon Just Walk Out store

The Crossing

• Leaf & Ladle (student named!)- Soups and salads
• Simple Servings- Allergen-free

Upper Eatery

• The Hearth- Pizza, pasta & calzones
• Kalamata- Mediterranean offerings

The third floor will house the Lehigh Pub

Progress Inside-

Vision:

• Reimagined spaces for dining, studying, socializing and meeting
• A large campus "living room" where students will relax, eat or collaborate on projects
• Eateries offering an array of options
• Lounge areas and club space for student organizations
• Improved mechanical and life safety systems
• A new open stair between the second and third floors to better connect the floors.

Current progress:

- Upper floors are nearing completion, including the Lehigh Pub, Great Room, and Boardroom spaces

- Kitchen equipment installation is ongoing throughout building

- The new South Entry glass curtain wall and louver have been installed

- Building controls are complete and systems are coming online for testing and commissioning over the next few weeks

- Audio visual and furniture installation to begin in late October

Progress Outside-

Vision:

• A large fire-pit
• Masonry cleaned and repointed
• New walkways, lighting and landscaping
• Entryways opened up, allowing more natural light
• Enhanced accessibility
• The building's postcard view and stone facade facing the north lawn will be preserved.

Current progress:

- Fire pit is nearly complete

- Concrete for NE accessible entrance poured

- Landscaping has started in key areas

- Reimagined LEHIGH letters pad will be completed in early November

- South Entry installation milestone with curtain wall and louver installed

- East lot - prepping for generator pad and new paving
