Register of Deeds Office to Close Temporarily Due to Ongoing Construction of New Office

Register of Deeds Karen Johnson announced today that the Nashville Davidson County Register of Deeds Office will be closed from Monday, October 28 through Tuesday, October 29 due to construction-related work but will resume its normal office hours on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.

As part of ongoing construction for the new facility slated to open around mid-November, the construction-related work requires installing a heating system and electrical work which will allow continued uninterrupted services for the two adjoining floors.

"Our priority is to ensure customer safety as we work closely with the construction team to get the new office up and running as efficiently as possible." Johnson stated. "The office will reopen during our regular business hours on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m."

The Register of Deeds is a constitutional office established by the Tennessee General Assembly as the custodian of legal documents pertaining to real property. The office is currently led by Karen Johnson, who made history as the first woman and African American elected to the position.
