Winning with Wisconsin's Workforce Events Highlight Strategies to Gain and Retain a Skilled Workforce

MADISON - The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) invites employers, educators, and other community leaders to attend a local "Winning with Wisconsin's Workforce" event to explore initiatives and strategies to help gain and retain skilled employees, incorporate artificial intelligence, and more.

These free sessions will bring together professionals from various industries to discuss the challenges and opportunities in Wisconsin's workforce, make connections, and gain valuable insights in a range of topics to help employers in today's competitive job market.

"With months of record-breaking job numbers as well as low unemployment in Wisconsin, we know that gaining and retaining employees is an area of intense interest for many businesses," DWD Secretary Amy Pechacek said. "Winning with Wisconsin's Workforce events offer employers an opportunity to connect with statewide and local resources to help meet business demands and drive economic success."

The upcoming forums run through the end of 2024 and build on events hosted earlier this year. Featured speakers will include leaders of the local workforce development boards, DWD officials, top local employers, and local workforce resource experts. Learn more or register on Eventbrite.

Events will also introduce attendees to local integrated business service teams that work with employers to find solutions for recruiting qualified workers, retaining well-trained employees, accessing workforce planning resources, and building staff diversity through a broad pool of skilled job candidates.

This session will highlight projects under the Wisconsin Biohealth Tech Hub, a $49 million award from the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration (EDA). It will help the region scale up the production and delivery of critical technologies that will advance biotechnology in precision and predictive medicine.

This session will weave together Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws, statistics, studies, and real world examples to educate employers about strategies to recruit and employ qualified applicants from diverse communities. A retired official from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission will discuss a variety of EEO issues, including unseen employment hurdles.
