Traffic Shift Planned at Bayfront Parkway and Sassafras Street Extension in the City of Erie

​Drivers should be alert for a change in the traffic pattern for the Bayfront Parkway (Route 4034) surrounding Sassafras Street Extension starting the week of November 4, 2024.

Once the change goes into effect, drivers will use the waterfront side of the intersection as work on the roundabout continues on the city side of the parkway. During construction, traffic at the intersection will be controlled by a three-way signal, which is expected to remain in place until the roundabout is completed in 2025.

Construction of the roundabout is part of the multi-year Bayfront Parkway Central Corridor Improvement Project, which includes safety and efficiency improvements at Sassafras, State and Holland streets.
