Make changes to your W-4 tax withholdings via UAOnline

November 1, 2024

The latest update to UAOnline allows employees to manage their W-4 tax withholdings directly from their employee dashboard, replacing the current process of submitting a NextGen form to human resources for processing.

  • This is one of two new functions added under the taxes drop down menu in the employee dashboard implemented October 31, 2024.
  • Any NextGen forms submitted prior to the transition will be processed and honored through November 7, but after that date the self-service option through UAOnline will be the only option for making changes to tax withholdings.

The new process
To manage your withholding allowances, navigate to the employee dashboard in UAOnline, and click on the taxes tab. You will see a new link titled "W-4 Employee's Withholding Allowance Certificate". This will take you to a screen that displays what is currently in your W-4 elections. Scrolling to the bottom of that page you'll find an "Update" link which will take you to a form where you can change your elections.

  • Use that form to change your filing status, (e.g. single, married filing jointly, married filing separately) add any qualifying dependents, or manage any additional withholding amounts.
  • You also set the effective date, which must be after the date of your last paycheck.

Once you have made the changes that you want, scroll to the bottom and select the option to certify your changes. It will ask you to certify that the form is correct. You'll click "Ok" and then you'll get a notice that everything was updated successfully. If you select "restore current elections" no changes will be made.

Reviewing current elections
At any time, selecting the "W-4 Employee's Withholding Allowance Certificate" option from the taxes tab in your profile allows you to see your current elections. This will update after you make and certify any changes as described above.A video demonstrating the steps above and additional FAQs are posted to the UAOnline upgrade websiteon the employee page.
