Sparks City Council Holds Special Meeting to Canvass the Votes and Declare the Results of the 2024 General Election

Sparks, NV-The Sparks City Council held a special meeting on November 15, 2024, to canvass the votes and declare the results of the 2024 general election.

  • Sparks City Attorney Wes Duncan ran unopposed in the 2024 primary election and has been declared elected. Duncan was sworn in as the 17th Sparks City Attorney on April 25, 2022.
  • Robert Delong was elected as Department 2, Administrative Judge for the Sparks Municipal Court. He replaces Judge James Spoo who has served as Sparks Municipal Court Judge for 18 years.
  • Donald Abbott received a majority of the votes for the office of City Council Ward 1 during the primary election in June 2024 and has been declared elected. Councilmember Abbott was elected to his first term in November 2016 and was reelected in November 2020. He currently serves as Mayor Pro Tempore.
  • Paul Anderson was reelected to his Ward 3 City Council seat. Councilmember Anderson was appointed by Mayor Ron Smith in December 2018 and was elected in November 2020.
  • Joe Rodriguez was elected to serve as Ward 5 councilmember. He replaces Kristopher Dahir who has served as Ward 5 councilmember since 2016.

Duncan, Delong, Abbott, Anderson, and Rodriguez will be sworn into office during the regularly scheduled Sparks City Council meeting on November 25, 2024.
